About Us

R Woodfall is a family-run opticians with branches in South East London, Kent and Surrey.

We pride ourselves on the expert and friendly service we offer at each of our six branches.

We have Optometrists (the experts who test your eyes) at every branch, who work alongside Dispensing Opticians (the experts who measure, fit and advise on glasses and contact lenses) plus our highly rated reception team. 

All of our branches offer specialist services. We have the latest OCT (optical coherence tomography) machines at all six sites and have now welcomed The Hearing Care Partnership at five.   

The Managing Director is John Fried, who qualified in 1972 as a Dispensing Optician and started his optical career manufacturing spectacle frames.

The R Woodfall group started in Peckham and Brixton in the swinging sixties, before adding branches in Sydenham, West Norwood and Purley in quick succession. Blackfen and Welling followed, with East Dulwich added in 2011, and the latest location at Crystal Palace in early 2023.

As an independent group of opticians we dedicate the time necessary to ensure our customers receive the best care and advice. We work closely with our clinical partners to ensure we focus on our local communities and provide the very best clinical care.
